Ampleforth Visit.
A party of about twenty O.Bs. spent a great weekend at Ampleforth last September. The Monks made us most welcome and allowed us to join them in the choir stalls for services. They appear to be doing very well with over 50 monks including our own Fr.Edward, Fr.Francis, Fr.Anthony and Fr.Bernard as well as 500 boys. Unfortunately we were unable to book this year as they are taking in girls and will require The Grange should their new wing not be completed. However, we have booked for the 29th-31st Aug.2003.
News.
On your behalf as Chairman of the Old Boys I sent a letter of congratulation to Mario Conti on his elevation to The Archbishopric of The Glasgow Diocese, he replied with thanks and earnestly begged the support of your prayers.
Next year we propose to have a weekend at Fort Augustus staying at Chris and Joanna Stephenson’s Caledonian Hotel with golf and other activities.
We now have around 220 Old Boys registered on our web site www.corbie.com Mike Drummond continues to up-date it and has recently installed a message board page on the site, thanks Mike for your work in keeping us all in touch. Colin McAllister has just completed a pilgrimage on foot to St.James Compostela. Ralph Giulianotti has been made a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre by Archbishop O’Brien. Congratulations to Archie and Barbara Maclellan who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February. They were joined in the golden celebration by their 12 children and 31 grandchildren, can any Old Boy beat this. Our book Abbey Boys is now in profit and has grossed £6,803.
