ANNUAL GOLF OUTING

The 1999 outing was very successful and fully booked. James Stevenson won the Scratch Abbey Quaich and Lewis Paterson won the OB Handicap Cup. Fr. Abbey News

To date April 2000, the Fort and grounds are still not sold, but according to Giles Foster, factor for the Lovat Estates, there are a few interested parties. Our monks and friends are residing in the following places: Father Benedict is still parish priest at Brora, Father Edward is chaplain to the Benedictine Nuns in Colwich, though we hear that he will be moving to Ampleforth; Father Aelrid is parish priest at St Philip Howards, Penrith; Fathers Gregory and Francis are at Ampleforth; Father Stephen is working in Plymouth diocese; Father Anthony is at Nazareth House in Bonnybrigg; Father Bernard is at Osmotherly, Ampleforth and last but not least our oldest OB Father Andrew is residing with the Little Sisters of the Poor, Welburn Home, Dundee. The only other piece of news is our beautiful organ, which Father Bernard Sole and Father Gregory played so magnificently, now resides in the Elgin church.

Old Boys News

Deaths: Kevin Murray and Aldric Young have passed away RIP
Births: Iain Macdonald a third daughter, Megan. Archie Maclellan a son, Hamish. lain Maclellan a second child, Fraser and Ralph Giulianotti a second son, Fraser.

Any more OBs news we should know about? Finally the Committee would once more like to thank Mike Tumbull, author of ‘Abbey Boys’ for the hard work and research he has done on this project and also Mike Drummond for our web site.

Secretary’s/Committee Report.

The Committee, consisting of Mike Drummond, Chris Stephenson, Brian Caulfield, and Ralph Giulianotti met in Perth on 11th Feb.1999.

It was unanimously agreed that the Old Boys Association should be continued even though we no longer have a school and now no Abbey/Monastery After some discussion it was agreed that a loose affiliation with the equivalent association at Ampleforth be sought.

It was agreed to proceed with the production of a book with pictures on the three schools (Abbey, Carlekemp and St.Andrew’s Priory) to be written by Old Boy and author Mike Turnbull who attended this meeting. The book to be published by Corbie Press Perth and sold for around £17.00

The Golf Outing at Pat Barron’s Strathmore Golf Club had, once more, been well attended and was a success. This year’s outing is already booked and hopefully Fr.Andrew will give out the trophies again.

Maurice Taylor’s Holiday Inn provided an excellent Old Boys Dinner and is also booked for this year. The AGM will precede the Dinner. The Millenium Dinner would be on Sat. 7th October 2000. Guest speakers were proposed.

Treasurer’s Report

The balance at 1st June1998 was £3842; cash in bank on 30th August was £4,4532. It was noted that no Masses had been said for living or deceased members. The Chaplain, Fr. AOCB

1. Fr. Stephen Dunn offered to say mass at the Old Boys weekend in future.

On the Committee John Edgar was deemed to have relinquished office. Mike Turnbull was voted to take his place. Other committee members were confirmed en-bloc.

Date of Next AGM

Pat Barron moved that the choice of date should he left to the Committee and this was agreed.
